WHAT IS A BLOWER DOOR TEST?
A blower door tests is a required test as of the 2017 Florida Building Code on all new construction homes and additions to test for air tightness in the drywall envelope of the home.​

We specialize in door testing as well as duct work testing for new construction and existing dwellings.

Results are given on the spot after performing the test, which takes about 30 mins.

Workers and homeowners may be in the house during the test, we will just need all the doors and windows closed up to perform the test.

A blower door test can be performed at any time, but for Florida Code compliance, it-is conducted just before the Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is issued, after all piping, wiring and other penetrations of the building thermal envelope have been sealed. Please make sure to have all drywall openings closed up before calling us out for an inspection.

DO I NEED A BLOWER DOOR TEST?
If you have just about finished a residential home, or you have done major renovations, then YES, you will need a test(s) done, just before your get your final building inspection. These tests are also a great additional inspection for real estate, prior to purchasing a home or commercial building.
As a good reminder, here is a checklist of things to look for:
1. Make sure all drywall holes and penetrations are repaired.
2. Make sure baseboard is installed, and if its riding up above the floor sometimes this will need to be caulked.
3. Seal the attic access with weather stripping.
4. Finish all electrical outlets and switches with faceplates.
5. If you have icing (polyurethane foam), you can typically test at anytime, as long as the drywall is in place. You will not need to finish steps 2-4 before having a test.
A very common question we receive is, “where do I find what tests I need done?”.

(BPI) which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute, Inc. (ANSI). BPI Certification is accepted Nationwide. We are also Certified Level 1 Thermographers and Licensed Drone Pilots that can assist in Infrared Thermal Inspections for Residential and Commercial Applications.
